About

Mom, wife, counselor.  That’s me.  And sometimes, I can really put the “psycho” in psychotherapist!

This is a day in the life of a crazy shrink.  It has crossed my mind on many occasions, “If my clients could see me now” they might not think I was the best therapist for them.  On the other hand, I’m about as “real” as real can get, and I tend to think that’s a good thing.

The truth is, I do reveal parts of my life to many of my clients.  It depends on the client, our connection, and what they’re in for.  I’ll discuss my marriage, my parenting style and struggles, and what it’s like to be normal.  A normal shrink, which, like everyone else, is a little bit crazy.  It depends on if revealing my life to them would help them in any way.  If not, then I don’t reveal my life.  If it does, I do.

This isn’t a blog for my clients.  It’s a blog for me. This is my place to talk about what it’s really like to be a “granola” parent to twin girls (that is “extreme” to some), be married to a man that makes me want to pull my hair out at least once a week, and struggle in all other life roles at being the best I know to be, but still failing often.

This is me putting pen to paper (or fingers to keys) to talk about what it’s REALLY like to be a shrink.

Yes, “fail” is a big word, and if I were sitting in my office on my white sofa, I’d hope the therapist sitting in front of me would be backtracking faster than she could could say, “times up for today.”

While I always strive to be better, I am a perfectionist, and I often feel I’m not living up to my potential in most of the areas of my life.  Never fear, you’ll read about those times here.

Thanks for coming.  Sit on my couch and enjoy your stay. I appreciate your feedback, comments, and insight into YOUR crazy life, too!

Jennifer

P.S. If you’re interested in therapy for your crazy life, this may not be the place.  However, my real life as a therapist, which also happens to be a true passion, just might be.  You can check that out here.

Hey! Just found your blog through your FB link!!!!! LOVE IT! Glad to know you’re “granola” – sometimes, I feel a bit like that, too…but then I realize that it’s just being a vegetarian in the state of TX that makes me feel that way, LOL!!!!! (and being more liberal on certain issues, too, i suppose…) Anyway, glad to know you have a blog and hope to meet you soon!!!!
